Factors Affecting Labor Demand Among Service Business Entrepreneurs in Luang Prabang City

Abstract

This research on factors affecting the employment needs of service business operators in Luang Prabang aims to 1) study opinions on the importance of factors affecting the employment needs of service business operators in Luang Prabang and 2) identify factors affecting the employment needs of service business operators in Luang Prabang. This research is quantitative research using closed-ended and open-ended questionnaires to collect data from a sample of 256 establishments (1 service business operator/1 establishment), using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics to analyze the data through a statistical software package.

The research results found: 1) Study the opinions on the importance of the factors that affect the employment needs of service business operators in LuangPrabang city. Service business operators in LuangPrabang city give importance to overall labor characteristics at a moderate level with  = 3.32 and SD = 0.49 which are detailed as follows: Personality is at the highest level with  = 4.50 and SD = 0.39, followed by knowledge and ability at a medium level with  = 2.44 and SD = 0.51, followed by the skills of workers with  = 2.98 and SD = 0.52 and finally the knowledge of specialized subjects at a low level with  = 3.35 and SD = 0.48. 2) Factors affecting the employment needs of service business operators in LuangPrabang city For the factors affecting the employment needs of service business operators in LuangPrabang city, it was found that there are only 4 factors that affect the employment needs in the same direction: the factors that affect the employment needs the most are the personality factors of the workers, followed by the knowledge and ability factors and the labor skill factors and the specialized knowledge factors of the workers, respectively with a statistical significance level of 0.05.
