Curriculum Development on Understanding by Design (UbD) Through the Use of CIPPA Principles for Lecturers

In this research, a training curriculum on Understanding by Design (UbD) Through the Use of CIPPA Principles for Lecturers was developed. Then, the quality of training curriculum showed on the trainee’s achievement, the designing ability of lesson plans and the applying of trainee. The 40 lecturers from faculty of Education Souphanouvong University on 2017 - 2018 academic years were trained by this curriculum. Four steps were used as the development process of the training curriculum including a study of the fundamental data, construction of the training curriculum, implementation of the training curriculum and improvement of the training curriculum respectively. Research Instruments used to collect the data were and achievement test, the evaluation forms of designing lesson plans and questionnaire. The statistical analysis was percentage, mean, standard deviation and t-test.
The results of this research were as follows:
- the training curriculum consisted of background, curriculum principles, aims, objectives, content and curriculum structure, training activities, media and instrument and an assessment.
- The trainee’s achievements score before and after training was statistically significant different at the .01 level. And, the scores after training were higher than before training.
- The trainee’s designing ability of lesson plans was at very good level as well as the trainee’s application. It showed that, the curriculum on Understanding by Design (UbD) Through the Use of CIPPA Principles for Lecturers learning principle is qualified.
